When a soulmate leaves, a part of your soul follows them

As usual, my first day of cny was rather boring since my paternal grandparents have passed away and my uncles and aunties don't seem to intend visiting my dad even though he's the oldest sibling. So we ended up going to jem, but failed to catch a movie, then going to robinsons to buy mattress for when we move out lol, followed by a terrible and expensive kebab meal.

Anyway, sorry for ruining the festive mood, but I just have to mention about this uncle (my dad's eldest uncle) we visited. The last time we visited him was 2 years ago. I still rmb then there were quite a few people who happened to be visiting him too, so it was quite bustling. I still clearly rmb how amazed we were at the auntie, who was I think close to 90, but was still super cheerful and spoke with enthusiasm. But later that year we found out that she had passed away not long after cny. Cause of death? My dad's not too sure but he said she had a stomachache and got sent to the hospital and passed away. No one dared to ask the uncle for the details of course but in short it was an unexpected death.

Right before we left, he mentioned something briefly about his wife (I couldn't unds cuz he spoke in teochew), and had teared up. It was really sad because you could really tell how upset he still is even after 2 years. Now that she's gone, the house had turned much more quiet, especially when she was one who talked a lot. And this year, most of his children didn't seem like they would be visiting him, my parents guessed it was probably because they had an argument or sth with the brother who was staying in that home. That doesn't give them the excuse of not visiting, but that's not the main point here. So that just made the house seem even more empty and quiet and the uncle even more lonely. Plus his legs were swollen from water retention, but he doesn't know why. I don't think he went for a proper check up.. It's really quite sad la, cuz I don't think he really wants to live on either. He said that nowadays the only things he do are to eat, sleep and watch tv.

Ok enough of the sadness. Enjoy your cny and all the good food! Go on a diet only after cny hahaha.
