sum(nus_sem1)

I shall do a summary of my first sem in NUS chemical engineering before I become too lazy to do so.

Honestly speaking, uni life was not what I expected. It is so much more fast-paced than JC life because you're expected to learn so much content and master them all within a semester/15 weeks. Not to mention that everyone else is equally or even more capable than you are. For my first sem, I kinda regretted taking up Sociology hahaha. I mean sure, it was interesting when you listen to the lecturers talk about how they analyse something sociologically and it gives you new perspective, but, as with most other Humanities subject, studying for this subject was a damned burden! Then again, I guess I gained some knowledge in the sense that I can throw out names of some Sociologists like Weber, Durkheim, Marx... (but really, these are the 3 big sociologists that we have to know at the very least HAHA).

Matlab was another huge burden. Friends around me would have heard me complaining about this programming module over and over again. I'm sorry I just can't help but to let it all out >< I really think I'm super screwed for my exam, considering how apparently everyone is doing quite well according to our lab TA. Ugh whatever at the most I'll just retake this module next sem... CN was okay, not exactly very interesting but still fine. The exam paper was horrible though. I only knew how to do 3/6 questions in the paper and I'm not even confident that my final answer is correct :o But somehow it seems like most people found the paper hard too so I'm not alone haha! It's all up to the bell curve now... I really cannot afford to offend the bell curve god cuz I didn't do well for my mid-terms sigh. Nothing much to say about math and GEK (another burden ._.)

Apart from studies, uni life is still not what I had expected. Because I have met a group of friends that I really like and feel comfortable around to just be myself. Really thankful for knowing the Cheway exco, who included me in their study groups despite my lack of contribution :( Yea I basically spent the last 3 weeks studying with them, plus Haolin (Lynn, please don't...), in school everyday that I'm so sick of the food at Techno! Without their company, I really think I'll just die from the stress and boredom from studying. And not to mention the resources that they generously share amongst each other. Who says the world is cold-hearted? The world is filled with kind people. I really hope I'll be able to stick through these 4 years with this gang.

And idk if he'll even see this, but I'm really thankful for Jason for including me in many of his groups, like Cheway and the outstanding engineers lol. If not because of his friendliness (which I even felt that he was too friendly for my liking on the first day I met him hahaha) I probably would not be as outgoing as I am right now. You have no idea how surprised I was when that day Sherman and Zhikang mentioned in the whatsapp chat that they thought I am an extrovert. LOL right. I was like HUH are they being serious?! Then I thought about it and yeah I probably wouldn't have spoken this way back in JC. I figured it was because having someone around that I was comfortable with made me open up myself easier. I guess I'm achieving my goal of being less conservative and just having fun (but I still think I'm far from being an extrovert la)! I held back too much in the past, mainly because I was afraid of offending/hurting people if I made spoke carelessly to them. My close friends would know that I'm kinda GL hahaha but I behave like that to people I know who won't get offended and can just joke around. That was probably because I tried to hard to please everyone, I didn't like it if someone disliked me. But now I don't really care lol unless we're talking about someone I like (as a friend/person). Life is much easier this way~

Oh and another thing, it must be the bad influence from the polluted cheway exco because stirring has kind of become a habit -.- I'm sorry guys please give me some time to get rid of this bad habit haha. And I realised I have been saying 'I don't know' way too often lol it just makes me appear thoughtless so I should refrain from that too. Speaking of which, I really should start thinking about what I want in life...

Is there someone you know
And loving them so
But taking them all for granted?
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away
And they don't hear
The words you long to say

When life throws me into such a sucky situation once again, I will accept the challenge just as I did the previous time, but this time round i'll be better and stronger.

I must have been leading my life correctly so far. Why else would I have been so lucky to have met all these wonderful people in chem eng? Thank you so much guys I'm eternally grateful but at the same time I feel super bad to not be able to contribute back... I'll return y'all the favor someday, I promise!

Naruto x700

One part of my childhood has ended with the last chapter of Naruto T-T

I was never a die-hard fan of the series, but I really like the funny elements in the earlier parts of the story so I followed it through these years. From watching the anime to reading the manga simply because it's faster to read the manga. The anime was gooooood. Other than being funny, there were many touching moments also e.g. when Asura (I think) died and Jiraiya too. Oh and the OST of course, it was a large part of the anime. When I moved over to reading the anime, it was one chapter every Wednesday/Thursday and just like that, almost 10 years has passed since I first got to know about Naruto. To be honest I kinda lost the story in between because there were way too many new characters, but I kept reading to know the ending.

The last chapter was a glimpse into the future, with all the main characters grown up with kids. It was kinda interesting because some of the couples seemed to have been put together rather forcibly hahaha. Like there hadn't been much interaction between this two characters in the story, but they ended up getting married with children LOL. Everyone's like wth in the forums I went to hahaha.

So yeah, Naruto has officially ended (okay there's an upcoming movie...). 15 years of work by Kishimoto-sensei. *applause* This brings a closure to a significant part of my childhood. It feels kinda weird right now, really. I was looking forward to the manga ending because I was really quite lost with the story, but now that it has ended, I suddenly feel sad and empty.

Next will be Bleach haha. I think I will feel even more sad when it ends because I like it more than Naruto. Most people would say Naruto is better (which I agree because Bleach is draggy and has way too many fillers especially in the anime), I feel more attached to Bleach? Maybe because I used to spam the opening and ending songs haha. I'm looking forward to the end of the series, but I know I'll feel even more sad than now when that happens :(

Brittle bones, strong heart

Caught another episode of 快乐速递 again today haha. Today was about a 2 year old girl who is suffering from this disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta a.k.a brittle bone disease. Even when she was still inside her mother's womb, she already had broken arms and broken legs. Her bones are so brittle to the point that she could even fracture it when she coughs.

So the show actually invited another guy who is also suffering from the same disease. You may expect that it may be difficult for people like them to find jobs, but guess what, this guy is actually working in one of the Big Four. If I'm studying accountancy, I don't even know if I would dare think of working in the Big Four. Idk man, just comparing their circumstances with my own privileged life, I felt super ashamed. Is my life actually all that tough? People have it much worse, I'm absolutely in no position to whine.

Anyway just something random. I have always felt that it is kinda rude to cry over someone's, say, death or situation if the person himself or his direct family is not even crying. It's like you're not even in the position to cry if those closest to the person are not. I mean, who doesn't feel sad? By just wailing you're not gonna help at all and it just makes the family feel even worse. I know, this can be debatable, but this is just my personal take.
