Kindness is unlimited

I was watching Channel 8's 快乐速递 with my parents just now. They featured this 79 year old man who has been going around helping the elderly (even though he may even be older than some of them) with their personal problems and organising events for them. It's already respectable enough that he devotes his time to help people instead of enjoying his retiree life. Okay he did say that he enjoys helping people, but I'm just comparing him to most other people who probably would spend their time doing activities that are less tiring.

I didn't expect it when the show mentioned that he himself is facing financial difficulties. He has no source of income after retiring, he lives apart from his wife (probably some disputes) and relies on the public assistance scheme (I think) for money. I'm not too sure how much he gets from this scheme but according to my parents it's around $450/month. Other than this amount of money, he basically is broke. Can you imagine? Besides food, transportation and rental, he mentioned in particular that he dreads it when an elderly passes away because it means that he would have to fork out approximately $30 per funeral for the 白金. So if in a month he has to attend 3-4 funerals, that means $100 off his budget. Okay it may sound like he just doesn't want to give the money, but ultimately he needs to meet his own needs right.

Despite his financial situation, he still goes around helping people and spreading happiness. If this doesn't deserve respect then I don't know what else does.

Pornsak mentioned something along the lines of how this shows that as long as you have the devotion, anyone can help another person irregardless of your circumstances.
