I am air,
And you are breath.
And I am earth,
And you are my dreams.
I am Faust,
And you are Mephisto.
I am you,
But you are not me.

Heeeeeh I ordered a Condor guitar from Carousell in the end, the seller is gonna come deliver it tomorrow evening!! :D It's just a rather basic guitar la cuz electric guitars are quite expensive and I don't want to invest so heavily right from the start.
Yup so just the guitar alone costs $150. I also need an amplifier but I didn't want to buy those big ones cuz they are expensive and loud lol. So i decided on a VOX amPhone AC-30 which costs $99. I just ordered it online last night at like 2am haha so hopefully I'll be able to receive by tmr LOL or by Monday. Yea so in total I have spent $249 T.T
I'm gonna help my mum work for a day to make up for this expenditure haha but i can only earn about $80 :(
Oh ya and my sis gave me one of the cheap guitar picks she bought from Australia when I told her that I'm gonna learn it haha yay.
Update again when I receive my guitar!! :)
This is the tagline for Picolove (the ocip organised by FASS). I'm not trying to flame them or anything lol I just happened to see some photos on FB and it made me want to post something.
I feel that this tagline quite accurately (why not big love lol) reflects the very initial motivation of most people who decide to join an ocip. We all start out with a determination to make a difference in others' live, the people who are living a poorer and tougher life than us. Of course, I believe that this also applies to our Cheway members.
However, all these hopes and misconceptions were brought down during the Cheway 2D1N camp a few days ago. It was the first time we met Carol, the facilitator from the organisation we were working with, and I believe she made an impact on all of us there.
Instead of encouraging us on our project like what you would probably have expected of a facil, she did the exact opposite (okay maybe not to the extent of discouraging us, but yea) - she told us right in the face told us that our project will not have a long-term impact and that our presence there will cause inconvenience to the people there. Note the italics. She said it with so much conviction, without even a sense of doubt, so can you imagine how we felt at that very moment?
Right now you may feel that she was being an ass to just shoot us down like that and to ruin our hopes, but just think about it. All she did was to make us face the facts. More than anything or anyone else, we are the ones who will benefit the most from this project. Where's the 'big difference' we aimed to see? In the first place it would even be an achievement if we are able to not be an inconvenience.
So when I saw the tagline on fb, I wondered if Pico had managed to achieve what they set out for. How about all the other ocips? If they failed to achieve it, I feel this whole ocip thing is all a farce. What "small love, big difference", what "Watering lives, nurturing communities" (lol Cheway's tagline)... They all seem to just glorify the meaning and significance of ocips, when it all actually only boils down to self-learning.
That's why I decided that I'm not gonna join another ocip. I mean, it has been an enriching journey thus far, even joining ocip and realising what it really is in itself has been a lesson, but it's not what I'm looking for. It may be a little to early to say this, but it's what I feel so far. I will still do my best for it of course, because of the people that I have been working with.
Anyway, I was talking to Jason a little during the 2D1N, and I think it's very true how it's important to have Carol to talk to us (or someone of a 'different level'), since she's a very experienced person. Although what she was telling us about was what the PDs had told the exco previously, the impact was too different haha.
